For a while now, I’ve heard about how good this place was. Finally, I had the opportunity to try it and it did not disappoint. Everything is super delicious and bursting with flavor. It might not be the healthiest meal of your week but it will definitely be one of the best. I was particularly surprised at how much I enjoyed the addition of salami to the Cuban sandwich. It adds a little kick that really works. I will definitely be back in the future.
So happy we stopped here! The best part? All of our food was delicious. It tasted fresh and had a homemade feel to it. We got fried chicken, mac & cheese, Cuban sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, jambalaya, mashed potatoes and the waffles/chicken/watermelon dishes. Each dish came with a side and there wasn’t anything we didn’t like. I also enjoyed my peach tea and our waitress was so nice. The worst part? Honestly, can’t add much. They didn’t have a parking lot it we found street parking not too far. Stop by if you can! No breakfast by the way.
Chicken dinner with Mac and mashed potatoes! Very tender chicken. Mac cheese sauce was tasty, fresh potatoes abs gravy was great. My husband had the Cuban, very good!!
Great stop! I come in every time I’m in the area! This is a great comfortable spot! I have yet to have a bad meal and the Bar Manager and bartender on Wednesdays have been great every time I come in. 😊
Super small place hidden in downtown South Bend, IN. I had the shrip po boy and the greens. How did I not know this place existed!? It's not cheap. But quality never is. And the waiter was super attentive and knowledgeable and friendly. Worth a trip. Just for the ambiance alone. Thank you!
3rd or 4th time coming, food is extremely good! Drinks are a bit interesting but love the vibe. Unique experience unlike any other in South Bend. Hush puppies are best in a bowl with the sauce and Cole slaw on top - just a note for the chef 👨🍳 Great spot to sit and try random new things!
Loved it!! It's kind of unimposing from the exterior but when I searched it on Google, I knew it was going to be something glorious on the interior. It's exactly what you could think of when the food is described as Southern down home cooking!! I will definitely be back there and if your thinking about it then think more..... Just go, eat and be happy!! 😊
Wow! Eating at the FatBird was refreshing. Everything was on point including the service. We felt welcomed and tended to the entire time. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was unique. From my drink to the apps to the entree we were excited for a new experience. I can’t wait to come back here and I will be telling friends and family to try this place out the next time they are down town south bend!
I went here for an early dinner with my dad and we loved it. He got a Miller High Life and I got the Mint Revenant Martini, both of which were delicious. Then we ordered dinner: the chicken and waffles, and the fried chicken. Let me tell you, the place lives up to its name. They know how to fry a bird. The sides (collared greens, a buttermilk biscuit, and waffle fries) were all delightful, but the chicken was the star. I only wish I had thought to take another picture before devouring it! Absolutely worth the price, but be prepared to indulge. Worth trekking through the snow for!
I cannot give enough praise to this place. I went today and had a Jerk Chicken sandwich with Maque Choux for a side and it was stellar! The sandwich was packed with flavor and spice (it definitely is spicy!!) And the Maque Choux was a great side to cool down my mouth. The atmosphere reminded me of a modern, but rustic vibe. Can't wait to go back and try more food!!
